THE PROBLEM

Problem

The Gen-Z cook less and consume more highly processed and pre-prepared food, leading to unhealthy eating habits, obesity and negative societal & ecological impacts.

How might we help Gen-Z eat healthier?

Solution

Develop a tool to ignite interest for cooking among younger individuals, encouraging them to embrace healthier eating habits while having fun in the kitchen.

User Research

She now has step-by-step guidance.

She completes a recipe, and shares the results with friends and family.

She’s now excited for her next home cooking adventure!

Explorative sketches
..and conducted some user interviews...
Card sorting & Journey mapping
Research takeaways

Results

We chose to proceed with Food Feed, a concept that effectively solve pain points
while accentuating positive aspects of the experience.
Building Food Feed

In our research, we found design patterns and features that worked well and were easy to use. So we integrated them into our product.

FINAL DESIGN & Design system

Final design

Here are a few screens of the result.

Design system

We didn't need an extensive design system. We opted for a simple and functional approach, prioritizing accessibility.
I ensured design consistency using Figma components.

& Next steps

In this project, I learned to stay focused on the product and its goals. It is very easy come up with a million features but we need to stay realistic, be aware of time constraints and work on those that will be the most useful to our users.

If we were to keep working on this project, the next step would be to continue testing and improving it in an iterative process, perhaps in a real kitchen to see how Food Feed is used while actually cooking. This would provide insightful qualitative data and could be used to refine the product.
